“We can’t change the past, but we can understand it.”
In partnership with the Jewish Federation of North America and the Center for Aging and Trauma, we have adopted PCTI, Person-Centered Trauma-Informed Care, to better service our Holocaust survivor and Nazi victim clients. Person-Centered Trauma-Informed Care (PCTI) is a way of providing care to people in which the unique person, their individual strengths, preferences, and needs are emphasized.
PCTI is now Project Lead’s agency-wide initiative to be even more client-sensitive and client empowering. Feedback from our precious clients has enabled us to provide an excellent Person-Centered provision of services, customized to individual needs and preferences. PCTI care creates a safer pathway for older adults with complex trauma histories to explore how they are feeling, and to identify ways to address their emotions, challenges and help them build coping skills. As we age, the memories and emotions from past experiences resurface just as we are becoming less resilient and more dependent on others for our well-being and care.
